We have one-half of the finals set for the G1.

This week concludes the G1 Climax 31 tournament where the winner earns a title shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Title at WrestleKingdom. Last night concluded the A Block and history was made.

Going into last night’s show two men were still in the running and they were set to face one another. Kota Ibushi and KENTA battled in a 26-minute match where the former G1 winner Kota Ibushi came out victorious. Ibushi last year set the record of the first person to make the finals three years in a row, yet now this will be his fourth year in a row making it to the finals.

As far as who Ibushi will face in the finals on Wednesday it will come down to one match and two men. Right now Jeff Cobb is leading the B Block with 16 points and Kazuchika Okada is right behind him with 14 points. The two will battle in the final night of B Block competition and if Cobb wins he wins the block hands down. If Okada wins then the two will be tied. The tie breaker would then go to Okada as the tie breaker goes to whoever won the match between the two tieing wrestlers. Cobb has never made the finals. Okada has made the finals twice, 2012 and 2014 where he won both years.
