Former Champions Released By WWE

Today WWE released two former RAW Tag Team Champions.

In late 2014, early 2015, WWE brought the Authors Of Pain to NXT television and really positioned them as monsters in the tag team division that was hard to stop. They won the NXT Tag Team title and were push hard really fast. So hard that they were called to the main roster by April of 2018. Yet the two did not see a lot of TV time due to injuries.

Yes the duo won the RAW tag team title but when one would go down with an injury, the other would be pulled from TV and vise versa. This past year started with them paired with Seth Rollins as one of the top acts on RAW, but when Rezar went down with an injury, Akam was also pulled from TV and never seen again.

Today, September 4th, 2020 WWE announced the release of AOP, the former NXT and RAW Tag Team Champions AOP.

WWE has come to terms on the release of Akam and Rezar (AOP). We wish themĀ all the best in theirĀ future endeavors.

It is unclear at this time what led to the former champions being released by WWE. We don’t know if Rezar had been cleared from his last injury, but WWE likely does not release someone when they are injured. They think it looks bad on them.

If we do hear anything further regarding the release of AOP, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
