WWE Reportedly Threatens Talent With Third Party Interests Like Twitch, Cameo & More

The days of your favorite WWE Superstars on Twitch could be coming to an end.

Most of the time you can log on to the widely popular streaming platform Twitch and see at least one if not multiple WWE talent streaming on the platform. Some of them strictly just play video games and keep it to that while others use it to also engage with their fans and chat about things in and out of wrestling. The days of this may be coming to an end if Vince McMahon has anything to say about it.

Earlier this week AJ Styles who has been streaming online for years revealed on his Twitch that he recently tested positive for COVID-19. This reportedly angered Vince McMahon to the point that he did not want anyone contracted by WWE on any platform the company can not basically regulate them on.

First reported by Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc, McMahon held a call with talent to “no longer engage with third parties.” The main focuses were Twitch and Cameo, but one would assume this would include YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms as well. The report goes on to state that talent would be punished if they continued to do so. This would consist of fines, suspensions, and even terminations.

“Some of you are engaged with outside third parties using your name and likeness in ways that are detrimental to our company. It is imperative that these activities be terminated within the next 30 days (by Friday October 2). Continued violations will result in fines, suspension, or termination at WWE’s discretion.”

The report goes on to state that during the call Vince stated that he does not only own their character names but their real names as well. McMahon also implied that while signed to WWE you represent WWE and some of the things said could be taken and made to look bad on the company.

Vince also claimed that WWE is set to “enter the next phase of growth” and actions like this are necessary for that growth and the rebuilding process.

We will continue to follow this story very closely and if we do hear anything else on this possible ban, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
