DEVELOPING STORY: Update On Rob Gronkowski Signing With WWE

March 11, 2020 0 By Tim Jarrell

It looks like Gronk is in with WWE.

Tuesday night during WWE Backstage on FS1, Ryan Satin reported that former NFL player Rob Gronkowski was in talks to finalize a deal with WWE. Satin also stated that Gronk could appear on the March 20th Smackdown from new Orleans. Now we know that all is happening.

According to Tony Maglio of The Wrap, Maglio reports that WWE and Gronkowski have finalized a deal for Gronkowski to wrestle for the company and he will, in fact, be on Smackdown a week from Friday.

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has officially signed with WWE, an insider told TheWrap exclusively. The ex-NFL great is set to debut one week from Friday on the March 20 episode of Fox’s “SmackDown.”

Maglio also goes on to report that Gronk will appear at WrestleMania, but not to have a match. Gronkowski is currently reported to have a segment to build towards a future match down the road.

Gronk is also due to appear at April 5’s WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, Fla., the insider told TheWrap. Current plans call for that appearance to be part of a build-up to a future match. In other words, the three-time Super Bowl champion will not have a match at the Super Bowl of professional wrestling — this year, at least.

If you remember this is not the first time Gronk has worked with WWE as he appeared at WrestleMania 33.
