WWE Confirms Reason For Zelina Vega Release, In Breach Of Contract

WWE says Zelina Vega was released for being in breach of contract.

Last Friday shortly before Smackdown went on the air WWE announced the news that they had released Zelina Vega from the company. No real reason was given as far as why she was released and some thought it came from a tweet she sent out 10 minutes prior that stated “I support unionization.”

Over the weekend many theories were floating around as far as why the release came with many thinking it had to do with her streaming on Twitch after WWE had told talent to no longer do so. The release was actually more over Vega opening an OnlyFans account and WWE considering it a breach of contract.

WWE has confirmed to Sports Illustrated that Zelina opening an OnlyFans account last month was considered a breach of contract after talent was told to no longer have any third party accounts with their own revenue stream. The report states that the company felt that Vega was challenging them by opening the account. Vince McMahon specifically considered this a breach of contract and upper management in the company felt like she boxed them in a corner. It was also stated that with Zelina Vega release, it confirms that WWE will strictly be enforcing this new mandate going forward, no matter how unpopular it may be by talent.

Many have also asked what Vega’s release means for her husband Aleister Black and if his releases from the company could follow soon. WWE confirmed to Sports Illustrated that Black is still under contract with the company and is part of the Smackdown brand.
