The Latest On Sasha Banks & Naomi Walking Out Last Night Before RAW

More info on what went down with Sasha and Naomi.

Last night word came out that before RAW started Sasha Banks and Naomi handed their tag team championships over to John Laurinaitis and left the building. Word was they were upset over the creative plans for themselves in the night’s main event and maybe lack thereof plans for them as champions down the road.

Now it is being reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that Naomi and Banks were supposed to be in multiple segments on the show leading up to the main event. The main event was supposed to see Naomi win a six-pack challenge and move on to Hell In a Cell to challenge Bianca Belair for the RAW Women’s Championship. It is also believed that Sasha was not happy with what could have been her direction for Hell In A Cell as well. That is reportedly facing Ronda Rousey for the Smackdown Women’s Championship with Rousey beating Banks.

At some point during the day, Banks asked for and got a meeting with Vince McMahon over the creative, and it was said that McMahon would not budge on the plans. It was also noted how Banks herself would also not budge on her stance of not liking the creative and basically not wanting to do it.

Shortly before RAW, WWE producer Molly Holly informed Bank and Naomi that the six-pack challenge was the route they were going with Naomi going over. Not long after that, the two informed John Laurinaitis that they were leaving handing him their Women’s Tag Team Champions and already having their bags packed and ready to go. Word then got to Vince McMahon who was in the gorilla position already as RAW was just about to go on the air or right after it did.

Multiple things on the show had to pivot and it was noted how the segment with Becky Lynch and Adam Pearce setting things in place to change the match from the six-pack challenge to the singles match was credited to Lynch by one who said it was her idea to do it that way and they went with it. With this all going down right at the start of the show they did not have any time to really pitch multiple ideas and then go over which would be the best. Also, the reason that match was changed to a singles match and not a fatal-four-way was that the thought was it was easier to work out a match with two women as opposed to four with the little time they had to get things in motion.

It was also reported that the main issue was not the fact of Naomi actually possibly pinning Banks to win the match on RAW, but more of how they would be used and portrayed going forward over the next several weeks. The feeling is they thought it does them and the women’s tag team championships no favors using them to put over the RAW and Smackdown Women’s Championships making them as champions look inferior. Plus them being the tag teams champions and working separately after becoming the champions at WrestleMania and trying to actually build up the women’s tag team division.

In a report from Fightful, they noted referencing the incident on the air and actually saying that Banks and Naomi left the build was direct from Vince McMahon who was said to be feeding line to commentary on the issues. It was noted how there is no heat on commentary for what they said regarding Banks and Naomi and they were considered “just doing their job.”

Really there is not a lot more know throughout today other than many hoping that everything will get worked out and resolved. If we do hear anything further on this situation with Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out, we will have it here and on the PWunlimited YouTube Channel.
