WWE Considering Changing The Name Of The Elimination Chamber

WWE Considering Changing The Name Of The Elimination Chamber

WWE could change the branding of a 20-year-old concept.

WWE debuted the Elimination Chamber almost 20 years ago at the 2002 Survivor Series event with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. Since 2010 the match has taken place at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view and primarily in February. Now it looks like WWE is considering changing the name of the match.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Meltzer reports that WWEoficials are considering changing the name of the match to the WrestleMania Chamber. The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view has been a staple on the road to WrestleMania for over a decade now and has seen WrestleMania implications on the show most years.

If this does happen this would not be the first time they changed up the Elimination Chamber event. In 2010 they called the event “No Way Out” in Germany before changing it to “No Escape” in both 2011 and 2013. The change was done so there are no connotations to the gas chambers used by Nazis during the Holocaust during World War II.

It is not fully known if this will actually happen but it is something that they are considering. Word came out yesterday that WWE could run the Elimination Chamber this year in Saudi Arabia when they go back over there next month.

If we do hear anything else regarding a possible change to the Elimination Chamber event, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
