Update On Wade Barrett’s Status With WWE

Barrett could be sticking around in WWE.

Last week former WWE Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett made his first appearance for WWE since 2016. He did not wrestle though but was on commentary for NXT. During last week’s NXTbroadcast Barrett did confirm that he will be on commentary again this week on NXT’s Tuesday edition of NXT. Yet he could be working with WWE for more than just two weeks.

According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Johnson reports that WWE and Barrett are currently negotiating a full-time return to the company as an announcer. The report goes on to state that WWE has had interest from WWE in Barrett since early 2020 to do announcing. As far as what Barrett could do with WWE, there is no interest for him to wrestle but on commentary for either NXT or even NXTUK as well.

Last week after Barrett appeared on NXT, WWE moved his superstar page from the alumni section to the main NXT roster section on their website.
