Update On Damian Priest Being Called Up To Smackdown

Top Smackdown stars had Priest’s call up nixed.

Yesterday news came out that Damian Priest was written into last Friday’s Smackdown and was supposed to be part of the show’s main event. That never happened and now we know why.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated that Vince McMahon asked who they could bring up to be a main event babyface on the Smackdown Brand and Damian Priest was the name he was given. The plan was on Friday for Priest to be introduced as Kevin Owens’ best friend and the two would then face Roman Reigns and Jey Uso in the main event. The story goes on to state that Owens himself had that nixed stating no one would believe he and Priest would be actual best friends. When Roman heard it he also agreed and they had it nixed.

Meltzer would go on to state that they still want to bring Priest up to the main roster and there have now been talks of bringing him to RAW instead.
