Tony Khan Confirms Reason For Changing Meat Madness Match At Revolution
February 29, 2024Two of the Five Tony Khan wanted weren’t cleared.
Originally AEW had announced a match for the Revolution pay-per-view titles Meat Madness. Wardlow, Lance Archer, and Powerhouse Hobbs were all announced for the match as of last week. Then as we go into this week’s AEW Dynamite, Khan reveals that the match is on ice due to multiple men being injured. He said instead they will hold an All-Star 8-Man Scramble. It was then revealed that night that the three men set for the Meat Madness match would be in the Scramble match which led to confusion among the fans. Now we have clarity on what is going on.
During Thursday’s AEW Revolution media call, Tony Khan was asked about the change stating that the match was originally supposed to feature five men. Yet the two not yet announced, Miro and Keith Lee are not cleared to compete and that’s why the change was made.
“I wanted to put a lot of the big wrestlers and get the crowd fired up for a multi-man scramble, a Meat Madness match. I think the crowd would enjoy it and it would be a lot of fun, but some of the wrestlers I was hoping to use….right now, Miro and Keith Lee are both out. Neither one is available, and some of our big men being out injured, I wanted to have the depth in the field to do the match I originally envisioned and people would enjoy that.
Since we didn’t necessarily have the depth and we’re missing some of our big guys to do the Meat Madness multi-man scramble, we have other great stars and rivalries to showcase, so I made it an All-Star Scramble. When we get all of our big men healthy at the same time, I still want to take the Meat Madness concept off the shelf, get it out of the freezer, thaw it out, but until then I put Meat Madness on ice.”
Now instead of the Meat Madness as stated above we are getting an All-Star 8-Man Scramble with the winner getting a shot at the AEW World Championship. In the match will be Chris Jericho, Powerhouse Hobbs, Lance Archer, Wardlow, Hook, Brian Cage, and two more men to be set on Rampage and Collision.
With that if we do hear anything else pertaining to AEW Revolution this Sunday, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
