Producers Of ‘The Last Dance’ Working On A Steve Austin Documentary

Earlier this year people were captivated on Sunday nights with the ESPN documentary entitled ‘The Last Dance.’ The multi-part documentary series focuses on Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls 1997-1998 championship season. Now it looks like producers who worked on that series is now working on a documentary about Stone Cold Steve Austin.

While speaking with Chris Van Vilet, former WWE ring announced Lilian Garcia told Chris that she got a phone call from the producers of ‘The Last Dance’ wanting her to be part of a new documentary they are working on about Steve Austin.

“The producer from The Last Dance called me. Actually, WWE reached out to me first and were like, ‘The product from The Last Dance are going to reach out to you, they want you involved in a documentary.'”So, they ended up reaching out. We were currently watching [The Last Dance] as this is happening. When Jake [Rogal] reached out to me, I was like, ‘I’m literally watching your documentary right now, this is amazing.’ Come to find out, they want to do a documentary for Stone Cold Steve Austin and it’s coming out next year. They gave me the biggest compliment. They said, ‘your interview with Steve that you did on Chasing Glory was what made us realize that we wanted to do a different documentary. We never heard the story of him being so shy that he couldn’t order from Dairy Queen. To see what he’s become is so inspiring. You seem to have such a friendship with him, we want you in the documentary.’ That is amazing! I reached out to Steve, he knew they were going to reach out to me, and I was like, ‘Dude, this is so special.'”

The Last Dance when it ran for 10 weeks earlier this year was the talk of not just the country but the world. Everyone was talking about the latest episodes on Mondays as two episodes aired each week. It is unclear what the plan is for a Steve Austin documentary. We do not know if it is a multi-part series or just one singular documentary.

It is also not known if this will also be an ESPN documentary. With WWE giving Garcia a heads up about this, that does mean they are at least working with WWE on this new project.
