Possible Reason Rusev Was Pulled From Super Showdown

Rusev will not be traveling to Saudi Arabia this week.

Monday night on RAW WWE had announced that Rusev would no longer be participating in the Gauntlet Match at WWE Super Showdown. Rusev will be replaced in the match by Rey Mysterio.

Now according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Johnson first reported that WWE was not going to use Rusev in the match because he has not agreed to sign a new contract. Johnson then updated his report stating “word making the rounds is that Rusev is citing a back issue.”

Dave Meltzer also chimed in stating, “the story is an injury but he backed out of the show essentially, I guess at the last minute.”

We had also heard that there was no plans currently in place for Rusev because of the contract issues with Rusev still not signing a new deal with the company despite his wife Lana signing a new five-year deal in late 2019.

If we do hear anything further on Rusev’s status and what his future holds in WWE we will keep you updated.
