Current IMPACT Champion To Compete In The Royal Rumble
January 7, 2022Shocking name announced for the Royal Rumble.
Tonight on Friday Night Smackdown Charlotte Flair announced that herself along with 18 other women will compete in the Royal Rumble match this year. When they names were announced, one shocked the world.
WWE announced that The Bella Twins, Carmella, Queen Zelina, Michelle McCool, Shotzi, Naomi, Lits, Rhea Ripley, Nikki A.S.H. Kenny Kelly, Dana Brooke, Tamina, Summer Rae, Shayna Baszler, Natalya, Aliyah, & Mickie James will all compete in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble Match. That last name in Mickie James came as a complete surprise, especially after the way Mickie was released by WWE back in 2020 and how she has talked about the company since.

Not only did they announce Mickie for the match, but Smackdown commentator Pat McAfee actually acknowledged live on the air that James is the current IMPACT Knockout Champion. WWE even acknowledged it on social media as well. It is unclear how this deal came together and how long ago WWE may have reached out to James to appear in this match.
