One Smackdown star could be done with WWE by the end of the year.

In 2021 we have seen many different WWE Superstars released from the company. Yet a few like Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and Andrade all left on their own and ended up going to AEW. Now we have learned that another WWE Superstars deal is up at the start of next year.

According to a new report from Fightful, they report that former Universal Champion Kevin Owens’ deal is up in January 2022. Originally Owens was locked in till 2023 yet it looks like that is no longer the case. Back in the fall of 2018 Owens revealed that he had signed a new five-year deal with WWE. That deal would have locked him in till 2023. The report from Fightfuls states that before the pandemic WWE restructured a number of different deals and Owens was one of them apparently moving up when his current deal is up.

Over the last 24 hours or so Owens, the former Kevin Steel, has been active on social media teasing pulling an Adam Cole and joining his friends in All Elite Wrestling. Before joining WWE, Owens was in a group with Adam Cole and The Young Bucks calling themselves Mount Rushmore.

Owens signed with WWE back in 2014 and was fast-tracked through NXT and to the main roster. In his first two years in WWE Owens won the NXT Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and had the first actual title reigns with the Universal Championship after Finn Balor vacated the title after suffering an injury the night he won the title.

If we do hear anything else regarding Kevin Owens current contract with WWE, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
