Backstage News On WWE Still Saying They Want To Unify The Tag Titles
May 10, 2022WWE doesn’t actually want to do this.
Over the last month, WWE was building up a match to unify the RAW and Smackdown Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania Backlash. Obviously, that did not happen and the match turned into a six-man tag adding Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre to the match. Last night on Monday Night RAW RK-Bro opened the show stating that they still wanted to unify the title and will be coming to Smackdown this week to try and do that. Even in saying that it looks like they still do not actually want to unify the titles.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer reported that WWE is still not planning on unifying the tag titles. WWE never had a plan to do this at WrestleMania Backlash and it seems they still want to do the big RK-Bro vs Usos match yet not have one team walk out with both sets of belts.
If this is actually the case and they do set up the match either for TV or the Hell In A Cell event on June 5th that match would have to end either in a DQ or a count-out so the titles of the team that gets beat does not transfer over to the other team.
No unless they just want a reason for the Bloodline to be on both shows that could have The Usos win and not be unified champions but both the RAW and Smackdown Tag Team Champions defending both sets of titles separately.
If we do hear anything else regarding WWE still saying on TV they want to unify the tag title but not really mean it, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
I completely agree with your points. Well said!
