Tonight we saw Alberto El Patron submit to Tito Ortiz in the first round.

Former WWE Champion Alberto El Patron wanted to have one last MMA fight before his combat sports career was over. He had called out the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz and the fight was made by Combate America where Alberto had been working as the face of the company.

Tonight we saw Alberto walked down to the ring by Sin Cara and Chavo Guerrero. Ortiz was walked down to the ring by his two twin boys as Hulk Hogan’s “Real American” played over the speakers in McAllen, TX and a “Trump 2020” banner hung on his side of the cage.

The fight started off with Alberto trying to throw the first punch and then Ortiz answering both missing and the two ending up in the clinch. Alberto then took Ortiz down to the ground but it was Ortiz who came out of the suplex with the advantage on top of Alberto. Tito worked over Alberto on the ground early with Alberto actually blocking shots and attempted transitions into full and half guard by Ortiz before getting back to his feet.

The two did not stay standing long. Ortiz would throw two punches that missed before Alberto went back to the clinch and this time Ortiz took him down. This is when Ortiz would start to attack with a little ground and pound before taking the back of Alberto and submitting him by rear-naked choke with under two minutes remaining in the first round.

After the fight, Ortiz said that he trained hard for this fight and it will not be his last fight nor his last fight in Combate Americas. Before the fight took place Ortiz had stated that if Alberto lasted till the second round he would donate $50,000 to Alberto’s charity. Even though Alberto did not make it past the first round, he gained the respect of Ortiz who instead said he would donate $10,000.

Also with winning the fight per a pre-fight stipulation, Alberto El Patron had to give Tito Ortiz his WWE Championship belt. Ortiz said his goal one day was to be a WWE Champion and that this belt here is good enough since that will never happen. He said he has won this for his two boys who are huge WWE fans and they can put this belt up in their room.

You can watch the closing moments of the fight in the video above.
