WWE’s Thought Process On Using Indie Talent In NXT 2.0

WWE is considering Indie talent for NXT.

Over the last four months, we have seen big changes in NXT and it transitioned from NXT black and gold to NXT 2.0. When WWE started the NXT brand it was a mix of independent wrestlers and athletes that had no wrestling experience. It remained that way for many years and worked very well. Then in 2021 things changed and now WWE is going more for the athletes with little to no pro wrestling experience. Now it looks like they could be looking at indie talent again but not how you think.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Meltzer reports that WWE is considering indie talent to work with the NXT 2.0 talent but not to actually sign them exclusively to the company. This was actually the idea WWE had back in 2016 when we saw guys like Samoa Joe, Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, and Rhyno come into NXT. They should sign roughly a six-week deals to work with the current NXT talent. During the time they could still work indies and after the six weeks, they would be done with WWE. Again this is what WWE did back in the day with Samoa Joe and Rhyno most notably that actually led to both being signed full time to the company.

It is not 100% that WWE will be doing this but it is said that this is something they are considering to get more experienced names to work with the lesser experience NXT talent. If we do hear anything else about this, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
