BREAKING NEWS: WWE Reportedly Taking Control Of Talents’ Twitch Accounts & Revenue
October 1, 2020WWE talent can lose control of their Twitch channels in the next month.
Last month we heard the reports that WWE wanted talent to cut out third-party revenue streams like Twitch and Cameo. The original report stated that talent had 30-days to cut out those third part endeavors or they could be reprimanded. The thought after this was that this would only happen if they are using their WWE character name on these platforms. Many over the last few weeks have changed their accounts to their real names but now it seems like that is not enough.
According to a new report from Wrestling Inc, they report that WWE sent out an email to the talent this week reminding them that they had till Friday, October 2nd to cut ties with these platforms. The email noted that talent that does not comply could be fined, suspended, or terminated from the company.
Wrestling Inc also reports that WWE will be taking control of talents’ Twitch account within the next four weeks. WWE will also be in control of the revenue generated from said Twitch accounts with the talent only getting a percentage of what they earn. The report also states that the percentage paid out from their Twitch account would also count against their contracted downside guarantee.
In a move that we are unsure if it is related to this or not, we saw WWE Superstars Xavier Woods and Killian Dain not only change their name on Twitter but completely change their handles. This cause Woods to lose his verified blue checkmark on Twitter.
The deadline for WWE Superstars to sever the ties with these third-party revenue streams is tomorrow and so far we have not heard of any talent notifying their followers of any changes to their Twitch channels. Some like talent Paige, Dakota Kai, and Lince Dorado were live today on Twitch.
If we hear anything further on this developing story, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
