WWE Reportedly Changes Stance On Marijuana
April 20, 2022Weed is not that bad anymore to WWE.
We have heard back in the day that marijuana was a banned substance in WWE. Bret Hart was vocal back n the 1990s that weed should not be something you get in trouble for yet it was. Now, in the year 20022, it seems like it is not that big of a deal anymore.
According to a new report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Sapp reports that WWE talent has stated that they have not been suspended for marijuana in years. Now WWE did not suspend people in the past for weed but would fine them. Another talent told Fightful that yes they get tested for everything, but they just don get fined for weed anymore. It had been rumored that in recent years WWE has quietly removed it from the WWE Wellness Policy.
The report also goes on to state that in recent years Randy Orton on the main roster had been an integral figure in influencing a change. It was also noted that in NXT over the last few years Riddle and Kona Reeves were outspoken about it as well.
One higher up in the company also stated to Fightful, “I haven’t even heard anyone as much as gossip over one of the boys or girls smoking weed in years, much less a fine being handed down for it. A lot of the perception has changed, and a lot of what Bret was talking about way back when ended up ringing true. I don’t expect us to come out with WWE themed cannabis incense any time soon, but the policy has been relaxed and we’ve used a lot of that culture in our storylines.”
