WWE Makes Shocking Cut Overnight
September 10, 2020Vince McMahon let go of one of his closest advisors.
Back in April WWE made a number of cuts. Not only did they cut talent, but they furloughed producers and office staff as well. We had not heard of any more cuts since until this morning.
Early Thursday morning Gerald Briscoe revealed that he was let go by WWE. He noted on Twitter that last night Vince McMahon himself called him to let Briscoe know that he is no longer needed in the company.
Ok, want to get this out the right way. Last night I received a call from @wwe Chairman Of The board @VinceMcMahon to let me know after 36 years of dedication to @wwe i an no longer needed. I’m ok withthis. I will still be around to help talent. More info will follow. Thanks

Briscoe started with WWE all the way back in 1984 when he and his brother Jack sold their shares of Georgia Championship Wrestling to Vince McMahon. Since then Briscoe had been one of McMahon’s closest advisors. Over the years Briscoe has had different roles in the company but may be best known as a talent scout for the company recruiting at college and mature wrestling meets and so much more.
