𝙍𝙀𝙋𝙊𝙍𝙏: WWE Interested In Multiple AEW Stars Who Could Become Free Soon

August 8, 2024 1 By Tim Jarrell

WWE is looking at many AEW stars.

We have heard over the last few months that a number of AEW contracts are coming up this year. Those wrestlers with contracts coming up are not a lock to re-sign with the company and it seems like WWE knows this. It is now being reported that WWE is interested in multiple AEW stars.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Johnson reports that WWE is “certainly interest” if and when some AEW talent’s deals come up and they become “free and clear.” The first name talked about is former AEW Tag Team Champion Ricky Starks. Starks has not been on AEW programming for some time now and he does have a close relationship with Cody Rhodes. We have seen that he attended a few big WWE shows this year with Rhodes. Johnson writes that one would think he’d be main roster ready if WWE wanted him in that position.

As we talked yesterday, Johnson states that WWE is Interested in The Lucha Bros. Their deals seem to be up this fall and they have filed for a number of trademarks that makes it seem they are looking to leave AEW. Johnson thinks that WWE would want them for NXT with the move of the brand to The CW, yet as we saw in the frightful report yesterday, they report that Penta & Fenix may not want to be placed in NXT.

It is also being reported the WWE has interest in Daniel Gracia. Johnson writes that he sees Garia as the prototype for the wrestler WWE looks for when it comes to the NXT brand and someone with experience they would want to invest in and develop. Garcia’s AEW is up soon and some do think he has not signed a new deal with AEW yet. It had been previously reported that they did the angle with MJF to write him off in case he does not stay with AEW. That would lead one to think his deal could be up sooner rather than later.

If we do hear anything further on any of these former champions possibly leaving AEW and going to WWE, we will have it for you here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
