WWE Could Run A PLE On ESPN Before 2026
August 17, 2025Are we getting a WWE/ESPN test run next month?
Back on August 6th, WWE announced that in the United States, all of their major PLEs would be moving over to ESPN. It has been reported that this will not go into effect till April of 2026 with WrestleMania 42. Yet now word is there could be a surprise test run next month.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE could run its yet-to-be-announced September PLE on ESPN. The report states that there have been discussions within the broadcast industry over the last few days about this possibly happening. One would think this is not possible with the Peacock deal still in place, yet the September show could be seen as an extra PLE in 2025, not bound under the number of shows promised to Peacock in their deal. Technically, Peacock is getting two PLEs in August, so the Clash in Paris show on August 31st could be considered Peacock’s September PLE.
The report also notes that WWE has plans to announce the show and where it will be broadcast sometime this coming week. Neither ESPN nor WWE would comment when PWInsider reached out.
We do know from a tease on Sunday from WrestleVotes that WWE could be looking to use the Wrestlepalooza name that ECW used back in the late 90s. The only issue could be that the F1RST Wrestling already has a trademark on the name.
If we do hear anything further on WWE possibly airing its September PLE on ESPN, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
