WWE Comments on COVID Outbreak, Tells Talent To Quarantine
September 24, 2020The current COVID outbreak in WWE is worse than expected.
Earlier this week it was reported that there was somewhat of an outbreak in COVID-19 positive tests within the NXT roster. The initial feeling was that it may have first been spread by a Performance Center coach, but now we have more information on this issue as well as a comment from WWE.
According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Johnson reports that training within WWE has been put on hold due to multiple people on the NXT roster testing positive for COVID-19. Johnson goes on to state that it is now believed that someone on the roster threw a party that others attended leading to the virus being spread around. Both Trainees and staff have tested positive for the virus that has been spreading around to those who have been together since training resumed a month ago.
WWE released the following statement on the issue,
“As part of ongoing testing protocols, WWE completed its second round of weekly COVID-19 testing on Tuesday. Individuals that tested positive will quarantine for 14 days, receive medical care, and then will only be cleared when they are symptom-free and test negative. Additionally, extensive contact tracing has taken place and other individuals have been placed in 14-day quarantine, and will then only be cleared after they test negative.”
We were told by one source that a lot of changes from the original plans had to be made regarding last night’s NXT due to a number of people not being able to be on this show. When WWE announced that Gauntlet Eliminator last week the reason they did the slow announcement of names was that they were waiting to see who would even be available as far as talent that would make sense being in the number one contender’s match.
WWE Superstar Chelsea Green earlier tonight took to her Facebook to announce that she was diagnosed with the virus but has since gotten passed it and been cleared.
Another issue is that a number of NXT talent was used in the RETRIBUTION angle this past Monday on RAW. Yes, they would have not been on the show if they tested positive for COVID, but there is a four to five day period where you can have the virus and still test negative and not show any symptoms. Johnson reports that anyone that has been either training at the Performance Center or at the NXT tapings inside Full Sail will not be allowed to work RAW and Smackdown at the Amway Center until further notice.
If we do hear anything else on this COVID outbreak amongst the NXT roster, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
