Updated On Sunday’s Backlash Tapings, What Actually Was Filmed

Sunday WWE filmed stuff for next week’s Backlash event but not everything.

It was reported originally by Fightful on Sunday that WWE had Performance Center recruits come to the PC at roughly 8:30 am for tapings for next weekend’s Backlash. Yet overnight it was reported that not every match was filmed for Backlash.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated that they did in fact film Edge vs Randy Orton. Meltzer stated that the match itself was filmed as a long match with a lot of selling. He also said that it was not just long but, “It’s really long.” The reason the match was filmed as long was to give them a lot of leeway when editing to try and edit together the best match possible.

According to Louis Dangoor of WrestleTalk, Dangoor reports that the WWE Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley was not filmed on Sunday.

As far as if any other match were filmed or not isn’t known. WWE is filming RAW, Smackdown, and NXT this week. There is nothing that says they can not film Backlash matches during those tapings as well. Also, it is still not out of the cards for Backlash to air live this Sunday with only the Edge vs Randy Orton match being pre-taped.

We will follow this story and if we do hear if any more matches are filmed for Backlash this week we will keep you updated. Also, remember we will have a full recap of the show on Youtube following Sunday’s Backlash event.
