Top AEW Star Suffers Stinger On Dynamite
July 14, 2022A slight injury was caused in the main event.
Last night in the main event of Dynamite we saw the Young Bucks lose the Wold Tag Team Championships to Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland. Unfortunately, it was reported that Matt Jackson suffered a stinger in that match.
According to Bryan Alvarez on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Alvarez noted that Matt Jackson suffered a stinger in the tag title match last night on Dynamite. Alvarez stated,
“About, I don’t know, three, four, five minutes into the match, Matt Jackson gets a stinger.
This is one of those things where people talk about toning down because there are so many injuries, but dude, I’m telling you 80% of these injuries are on things that nobody should ever get hurt doing and what he got hurt on was Keith Lee and Hobbs giving him a basic vertical suplex and just when he fell… you could see it immediately. He hit ass first and then his head snapped back and he grabbed his neck.
From that point forward, he was being super careful, he was being super careful on his bumps. For the most part, everybody was being super careful with everything they did to him. I think he took one double-team powerbomb from Keith and Swerve near the end but other than that, you could just see everyone working around him and they still had this great match.”
It is unclear how bad the stinger to Jackson was yet it was notable that Matt did slow down a little in the match. Dave Meltzer on the same podcast also talked about how Matt Jackson does have a history of neck issues and we did see Matt grab at his neck a few times in the match.
If we do hear anything else about Matt Jackson suffering a stinger on Dynamite, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
This was very informative. I appreciate the clarity and depth.
