Top AEW Star Currently Working As A Free Agent

One champion has let their contract expire.

Going into 2022 the word was that many of the original AEW deals were coming up. We learned in the last six months that names like The Young Bucks, Britt Baker, MJF, and Scorpio Sky had signed new deals with the company. Now it is being reported that one champion in AEW actually has let their contract expire.

According to a new report from Fightful, they report that Cody Rhodes, the current TNT Champion, is currently working with the company as a free agent as his contract expired a the end of last year. According to the report it does state that they are unsure if Cody has a talent and an executive contract or if both are in one deal.

Also, anything regarding Cody’s wife Brandy and her contract was not mentioned here as her current status with the company is not known as far as if her contract expires at the same time as Cody’s or not.

Cody did speak to Sports Illustrated last month and was asked about his contract coming up where Cody did state that he sees AEW in his future. Yet we don’t know what he meant by future. Does that only mean a month, year, or years?

Cody is the current TNT Champion and has been out the last few weeks due to COVID protocol. Cody will be back on TV this Wednesday night and we will see if they do address this news on the show or not.
