Title Match Set For The Royal Rumble
December 27, 2019First match officially set for Royal Rumble.
Tonight on Smackdown we learned who will challenge Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble and it literally took three tries and the entire show to get to this point. There was one debacle after another that kept hindering this match from ever taking place.
The show opened up with the thought of doing the number one contenders match but Roman Reigns ruined that plan by attacking and running off King Corbin. Then later after Corbin refused to compete they did a singles match with Daniel Bryan and The Miz but it ended in a no-contest when Corbin’s security ran down and attacked both men.
Finally, in the main event, we got the originally planned three-way. The end of the match saw Corin all ready to pick up the win when he was going to pin Daniel Bryan but was pulled out of the ring by Roman Reigns and then the two brawled out of the arena. Then at the end, Daniel Bryan was able to put the Lebel Lock on Miz and pick up the submission victory to advance to the Universal Title match.
Bryan fell to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at Survivor Series in November, and he was subsequently dragged to hell and had his hair ripped out by the Universal Champion several nights later. This horrific scene left many to wonder if Wyatt had broken Bryan permanently.
Instead, quite the opposite happened: It gave Bryan new life.
Coming back with a new look and a new yet familiar attitude, Bryan reconnected with the WWE Universe, reignited the “Yes!” Movement and defeated The Miz and King Corbin in a Triple Threat Match on the December 27 edition of Friday Night SmackDown to earn the right to yet again challenge “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt for the Universal Title at Royal Rumble 2020.
So, what will Bryan do with his second chance? Will he be the first Superstar to halt Wyatt’s seemingly unstoppable rise as Universal Champion? Or, will Wyatt prove that no amount of chances is enough to stop his dominance?
