Title Match Announced For WWE Payback

August 24, 2020 1 By Tim Jarrell

A title match has been added to Sunday’s Payback event.

Last night was WWE SummerSlam and then next weekend will be the Payback event just seven days later. coming out of last night’s SummerSlam we only knew of half of a match taking place. We knew that Bayley and Sasha Banks would defend the Women’s Tag Team Championships, but opponents had yet to be named.

Today, WWE announced that apollo Crew will be defending the United States Championship at Payback against Bobby Lashley. At SummerSlam, we saw Crew successfully defend the US Title against MVP.

Apollo Crews may have prevailed over MVP, but that doesn’t mean he’s seen the last of The Hurt Business.

Crews will have to go through The Hurt Business’ All Mighty when defends his United States Championship against Bobby Lashley at WWE Payback.

Warring with MVP for months, Crews has become the primary target of his loquacious rival’s newly formed battalion. The fast-rising champion turned aside MVP’s best at SummerSlam, but Lashley represents an entirely different challenge with his unparalleled strength.

And few know of Lashley’s brute power better than Crews, who was out of action for weeks after being injured by The All Mighty’s Full Nelson.

Can Crews keep his first-ever title reign rolling, or will Lashley bring the gold home to The Hurt Business?

Earlier today WWE also announced that Crews and Lashley will compete in an arm-wrestling contest tonight on RAW officiated by WWWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry.

So far this is the only full match that has been announced for Payback in less than a week.
