Title Change Takes Place On Tonight’s NXT

A first time champion in NXT was crowned tonight.

Tonight’s NXT kicked off with Johnny Gargano defending the NXT North American Championship but we did not know who his opponent was going to be. Gargano had a wheel in the ring with names on it and when he spun the wheel it landed on Leon Ruff. Little did Gargano know, this was not going to be the cakewalk he thought when he rigged the wheel to land on Ruff.

The match itself was mainly a squash match but when Damien Priest appeared that threw Gargano off his game a little at first. The more it went on Gargano’s attention drifted more and more to Priest even though Priest was not really doing anything but standing in the crowd. In the end, Ruff was able to capitalize on the distraction, roll Gargano up and become the new NXT North American Champion.

After the match, Johnny Gargano was furious and tried to get NXT General Manager William regal to reverse the finish and give him the North American Championship back. Regal said all of this was Gargano’s idea and because of that the decision stands.
