The Royal Rumble is really taking shape.

Tonight on Smackdown we learned of a number of things for the 2020 Royal Rumble on January 26. Two previously announced matches got stipulations added to the match and two new matches, including a title match being announced as well.

First off we learned that Shorty G will be taking on Sheamus. When Sheamus made his return to the ring we thought he may be coming to the aid of Shorty G but instead, he hit G with a huge Brogue Kick. Tonight Shorty G was being interviewed when Sheamus inturrupted and pretended Shorty G was too short to seeShorty G then took Sheamus down before the two were pulled apart.

The other new match announced is a title match where we will see Lacey Evans challenge Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. After Sasha Banks was hurt tonight in a backstage brawl, Adam Pearce informed Bayley that she will be taking Sasha’s place in a match with Evans. The match was a non-title match and Evans was able to pick up a victory over the champ. This non-title victory ended up earning Evans a title shot at the Royal Rumble.

Two matches had stipulations added when we learned that the Universal Title match will not be a strap match. Daniel Bryan said that The Fiend always tries to run away and if they are strapped together there is nowhere for The Fiend to go.

Finally, we learned that the match between Roman Reigns and King Corbin will now be a Falls Count Anywhere match. Roman Reigns defeated Robert Roode tonight to earn the right to pick the stipulation of his match. After winning the tables match he said that the Royal Rumble ins in a baseball stadium and why not fight each other throughout the entire stadium.

The 2020 Royal Rumble comes to us from Minute Maid Park in Houston Texas on January 26 live on the WWE Network.
