Rumor Killer On Rumored WrestleMania Match

A former WWE champion was not set to face the Monday Night Massiah at WrestleMania 36.

Since the beginning of the year rumors had gone around that Seth Rollins could face CM Punk at WrestleMania 36. Rollins did mention Punk on RAW and react to crowds chanting Punk’s name to him, but it looks like a match between the two was never in place or officially being teased.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Johnson reports that this match between Rollins and Punk was never in the works. Johnson stated that there was never any communication between WWE and CM Punk regarding this match or even just appearing at the show at all.

Johnson also reported that Rollins did push for the match pubically, and may have reached out to Punk privately. Yet internally within WWE, there has been no talk about using Punk at all even though he is on WWE Backstage on FS1. Punk’s contract to work that show is soley with FOX and not with WWE in any way.
