ROH Champion Pulled From Shows Due To Injury

Unfortunately Ring of Honor’s top man is not cleared to compete.

At the end of 2021, the future of Ring of Honor was in question. The only thing we knew was they were coming back for a show over WrestleMania weekend. Yet a few weeks before that AEW President Tony Khan announced he had purchased and is the new owner of Ring of Honor Wrestling. They ran Supercard of Honor in Dallas over WrestleMania weekend and since then we have since ROH sprinkled into AEW programming. Unfortunately, the ROH World Champion who last worked this past Friday for AEW is now injured.

Ring of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham was set to travel to London this weekend to work for Progress Wrestling. Tonight, April 17th, Gresham was slated to be taking on Chris Ridgeway, and tomorrow night, April 18th, Gresham was slated to be taking on Gene Munny. Yet neither of those matches will no longer be taking place. Progress posted a video this morning of Gresham stating that he is currently not cleared to compete and will be unable to travel to London for the shows on Sunday and Monday. The biggest blow here is not just that Gresham can not make the shows, but aside from being the ROH World Champion, Gresham is also the current Progress World Champion as well. Hence leaving Progress to run two show without their top champion.

Now as far as details on the injury, none are known at this time. Gresham last worked Friday night for AEW when he defended the Ring of Honor World Championship in a match against Dalton Castle. That match was part of last night’s Battle of the Belts II broadcast on TNT.

If we do hear anything further on the current injury to Jonathan Gresham and how long this could keep him out of the ring, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
