Ric Flair’s Contract With WWE Reportedly Expires Around The End Of The Year

Could we see the Nature Boy pop up outside of WWE soon?

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer reports that Ric Flair’s contract with WWE is set the expire “right around the end of this year.” Many thought Ric Flair may have signed a new deal with WWE recently, especially when his merchandise was pulled off of Pro Wrestling Tees. Meltzer notes, “It was his own team’s move regarding other businesses making offers to be able to carry Ric Flair merch.”

The last time it was accurately reported that Flair had signed a contract with WWE was back in November of 2016 and there were no details given at that time. With Flair’s contract coming up now it seems he had signed a 3-year deal back in 2016, but now if he does not sign a new deal he could pop up somewhere else in 2020.

There is no indication at this time if Flair or AEW are interested in working together but Meltzer does note that Flair and AEW President Tony Khan are friends. So close in fact, that Khan was invited to Flair’s wedding. Meltzer says that he would expect WWE to make Flair a good money offer to prevent the opportunity of him appearing on AEW television.
