Reported Reason For Why Rusev Has Been Off Television

Since it looked as if the Rusev/Bobby Lashley storyline may have ended we have not seen Rusev on television. Rusev’s last match cam back on January 20 with the mixed tag team match where he and Liv Morgan lost to Lana and Lashley. Many tried to speculate why Rusev may have been missing the last few weeks after being featured on RAW every week for months but none of those speculations seem accurate.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, he stated that the reason Rusev has not been seen for the past few weeks is that creative just has nothing for him. Meltzer also stated that Rusev’s participation in the Lana storyline has come to an end and it has just transitioned to Lana and Liv Morgan with them now seemingly adding Ruby Riott.
If WWE had no plans for Rusev past the Lana/Bobby Lashley storyline that does not give much hope to how they see Rusev going forward. There have been talks that the company wants him to sign a new contract and he has been hesitant to do so despite his wife recently signing a new five-year deal.
