Preview For Tonight’s WWE Worlds Collide

January 25, 2020 0 By Tim Jarrell

Tonight we will see NXT vs NXT Uk when Worlds Collide in the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. For tonight’s show, we know of six matches taking place with two of them being a title match.

Along with the title match, we have a tag team dream match of sorts and a massive eight-man tag team main event with the top factions colliding from NXT and NXT UK.

Here is WWE’s preview for tonight’s show,

Undisputed ERA vs. Imperium (Eight-Man Tag Team Match)

When the Superstars of NXT clash with their NXT UK counterparts for brand supremacy at WWE Worlds Collide 2020, one of the most highly-anticipated showdowns will see the forces of Undisputed ERA go head-to-head with the full might of Imperium in an Eight-Man Tag Team Match.

NXT Champion Adam ColeRoderick Strong and NXT Tag Team Champions Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish have come together to form a deadly faction that has captured every championship in the black-and-gold brand. Since their formation in the summer of 2017, Undisputed ERA have run wild though NXT and unleashed several brutal beatdowns on those who oppose them. They will have no love for the rising brand across the pond and will once again be out to show that their superiority is … well … beyond dispute.

NXT United Kingdom Champion WALTER may have been on the NXT team against Raw and SmackDown at Survivor Series 2019, but his only true allegiance remains with the sacred mat and with his Imperium cohorts Marcel BarthelFabian Aichner and Alexander Wolfe. The destructive foursome from NXT UK does not care how much gold their Worlds Collide opponents are holding. They will be out for all-out dominance when the two factions meet on the eve the Royal Rumble.

Which faction will emerge victorious?

NXT Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Toni Storm

A whole new chapter in the storied rivalry between Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm is about to be written as The Nightmare will collide with her rocking adversary for the NXT Championship at WWE Worlds Collide 2020.

Among the epic past showdowns between the intense competitors, Ripley made history by emerging victorious over Storm in the finals of a tournament to be crowned the first-ever NXT UK Women’s Champion. Storm then regrouped and conquered Ripley in their rematch at the first NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool to seize the title in January of 2019.

Ripley has since traveled across the pond to defeat the dominant Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Title. In the meantime, Storm returned to NXT UK after losing her title to Kay Lee Ray and battled “The Scary Queen of Scots” and Piper Niven in a Triple Threat Match for the championship at the TakeOver: Blackpool II event. Nevertheless, even as Storm prepared for that total free-for-all against two of her former best friends, her competitive nature brought her to Full Sail University in order to rekindle her rivalry with Ripley and boldly challenge the dangerous titleholder.

Ripley accepted and the contest has been made. Who will reign supreme in the highly anticipated return matchup?

Don’t miss the explosive action when the Superstars of NXT go head-to-head with the Superstars of NXT UK in a battle for brand supremacy.

Finn Bálor vs. Ilja Dragunov

Finn Bálor is poised to take on Ilja Dragunov when the Superstars of NXT go head-to-head with the Superstars of NXT UK in a battle for brand supremacy at WWE Worlds Collide 2020.

NXT’s Prince has been on an absolute mission since he returned to the black-and-gold brand and ignited a chaotic rivalry with Johnny Gargano. Meanwhile, Dragunov has been bringing his unique intensity to the world of NXT UK, most recently joining forces with Gallus in a rivalry against Imperium and defeating that faction’s Alexander Wolfe in a brutal No Disqualification Match.

The ruthless Bálor is on the top of his game and will stop at nothing to secure victory, but can he contend with the completely unpredictable Menacing Muscovite?

NXT Cruiserweight Champion Angel Garza vs. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. Jordan Devlin vs. Travis Banks (Fatal 4-Way Match)

NXT Cruiserweight Champion Angel Garza will defend his title in a Fatal 4-Way Match at WWE Worlds Collide tonight, during Royal Rumble weekend in Houston, Texas.

Garza’s challengers will include Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, who defeated Lio Rush and Tyler Breeze to earn the right to enter the match, as well as NXT UK’s crafty Jordan Devlin, who defeated Ligero, and Travis Banks, who overcame former Cruiserweight Champion The Brian Kendrick to qualify.

The supremely confident Garza has been riding high since capturing the title last month, but how will he fare when he has three hungry challengers aiming to dethrone him?

#DIY vs. Moustache Mountain

Two of the most influential tag teams in NXT and NXT UK history will square off at WWE Worlds Collide tonight, when Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa reform #DIY to battle NXT UK’s Moustache Mountain.

The match came about after Gargano rescued Ciampa from a beatdown at the hands of The Undisputed ERA on the Jan. 15 edition of NXT, leading the Brits to issue a challenge via Twitter, which Gargano & Ciampa were happy to accept.

#DIY’s roots in NXT go back to 2015, when they joined forces to enter the inaugural Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and won over the hearts of the NXT Universe. Gargano & Ciampa went on to be one of the most beloved tag teams in NXT history, thanks in part to their incredible competition with The Revival over the NXT Tag Team Championships. The rivalry culminated at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, where they won the titles in a thrilling 2-out-of-3 Falls Match.

Trent Seven & Tyler Bate have, perhaps, been the heart and soul of NXT UK, dating back to their participation in the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament in 2017, which Bate won. Moustache Mountain have gone on to represent NXT UK around the world. There’s no greater example of their dedication to the brand and their home country than on June 19, 2018, when they defeated The Undisputed ERA in London’s Royal Albert Hall to win the NXT Tag Team Championship.

And now, these two tandems are set to battle as NXT and NXT UK go head to head on Royal Rumble weekend.

Who will stand tall in this highly anticipated tag team showdown?

Mia Yim vs. Kay Lee Ray (Pre-Show Match

Tonight, the action begins on the Worlds Collide Pre-Show when Mia Yim battles NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray.

The battle pits two daredevil Superstars against each other. Ray has proven she’ll do anything to reach the top, whether it’s throwing caution to the wind in WarGames or taking advantage of the fractured friendship between Toni Storm and Piper Niven to retain her title.

Yim has shown a similar fiery passion inside the squared circle, going all out in a Ladder Match against Io Shirai and sending herself crashing through tables in pursuit of payback on Dakota Kai.

WWE Worlds Collide comes to us tonight a 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT live on the WWE Network. We will also be live with our full review after the show on the PWUnlimited Youtube Channel.
