NXT Superstar Reportedly Underwent Elbow Surgery Recently
January 17, 2020Another NXT Superstar is on the shelf.
This past Wednesday on NXT, the main event saw a big women’s battle royal. In the match was the former NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler but her best friends Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir were not there with her. It is not known why Shafir was not there but we now know why Duke was not.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Sapp does report that Duke just recently underwent elbow surgery. Sapp does not state exactly when the surgery took place or how long duke will be out of action.
Jessamyn Duke had surgery on her elbow area recently, which has her sidelined. We didn’t hear as to why Marina Shafir was left out.
One would assume that the surgery had to have come in just the last two to three weeks. Duke’s last match was on December 5 in a 6-women tag team match. The last time we saw her on television was on December 18th during the NXT Women’s Championship match that saw Baszler drop the title to Rhea Ripley.
The other question that needs to be asked is what happens to Duke and Shafir when Shayna Baszler comes to the main roster full-time. It is expected that Baszler will be in the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble and then placed on the main roster. Does Duke and Shafir come up to the main roster with Baszler in that same role they are in now or do they stay in NXT and continue to grow and gain experience?
