NXT Star Signs Contract Extension With WWE
April 12, 2022One NXT star is considered locked in with the company.
In 2021 we saw a number of NXT contracts come up with the bigger named wrestlers opting to not stay with WWE. We saw Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly leave and got to AEW. We also see Johnny Gargano leave and really not do anything other than spend time with his family. Now we know of one NXT star who signed a contract extension last year.
According to a new report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Sapp reports that Wendy Choo signed a contract extension with WWE in 2021. The report states that a higher up in WWE reached out to Fightful after the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and noted the company “locked her down with a new deal last year.” No further details on the extension like the length was not mentioned though.
Choo has had a few different characters during her time in NXT. She came in as Karen Q. After being out of action for over a year due to a knee injury she returned as the Mei Ying character which was said to be a favorite of Triple H. This year she debuted her new Wendy Choo character which has really gotten over with the fans.
The report also stated that this extension was signed before she started using the Wendy Choo gimmick.
If we do hear anything else regarding Wendy Choo signing a contract extension with WWE, we will have it here and on the PWunlimited YouTube Channel.
