NFL Games Forces AEW To Shift Taping Schedule
September 25, 2020AEW filming one day later than normal this week.
Typically when AEW films two episodes of Dynamite in a week they do one live on Wednesday and then another the following night on Thursday. Unfortunately, this was not possible this week. We saw pictures and videos of a number of AEW staff and talent at last night Jacksonville Jaguars game against the Miami Dolphins. Many thought maybe they just stayed in town to take in the game and hang out with others on the roster but that was not the reason they were still in town.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason everyone with AEW was still in town Thursday night was that the second Dynamite taping for this week had to be moved to Friday, today. The reason for this was because of the Jaguars game in the TIAA Bank Stadium that is connected to Daily’s Place where AEW films. With the NFL game taking place in the stadium it was not possible for AEW to also film Dynamite at the same time on the same property so Tony Khan moved the Thursday tapings to Friday.
Next week’s Dynamite will be a pre-taped show with the company returning live on October 7th when they do the Chris Jericho 30th Anniversary special. This will mark the 30th anniversary of Chris Jericho’s first match that he had back on October 2nd, 1990 against Lance Storm.
