New Title Match Announced For WWE Backlash
May 5, 2025Another title match is taking place this weekend.
This weekend is WWE Backlash from St. Louis, Missouri, and going into tonight’s RAW, four matches had so far been announced. Tonight on RAW, a new title match was officially announced.
WWE has officially announced that the Intercontinental Championships will be defended this weekend at Backlash when Dominik Mysterio defends the title against Penta. On this week’s RAW, Penta picked up a win over JD McDonagh. Penta also has a win over Mysterio from before WrestleMania.

With adding this match to the card for Backlash, that is now five things announced for the show.
- Undisputed WWE Championship: John Cena(c) vs Randy Orton
- Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio(c) vs Penta
- Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Lyra Valkyria(c) vs Becky Lynch
- United States Championship: Jacob Fatu(c) vs LA Knight vs Damian Priest vs Drew McIntyre
- Gunther vs Pat McAfee
