New NXT Call-Ups Reportedly Being Paid Less That They Used To

WWE now paying wrestlers less than they used to when called up.

When an NXT roster member is called up to the main roster it has been typical for them to sign a new multi-year contract with the company. With that new contract comes a pay increase as well. It is not fully know how much that pay increase is but now it is being reported that it is less than it used to be even a year ago.

According to a new report from Fightful, they report that WWE contracts for NXT Superstars being called up to the main roster have not been “quite up there with that a lot of wrestlers were being offered to re-sign last year.” How much less is being offered compared to last year is not known at this time.

It was stated in the report though that WWE “told several of those involved that they’re open to renegotiating after WrestleMania season next year.” We do now know if this change is for WWE to try and have to spend less during the pandemic or if it was always going to be the plan. Also with WWE saying they can re-negotiate after WrestleMania next year, that sounds like a way for WWE to just give them a new contract for more years in an attempt to lock them in with the company even longer than the initial call-up contract was for.
