New IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Crowned
June 7, 2021NJPW crowned a new champion.
A few weeks back it was revealed that Will Ospreay was dealing with a neck injury, had to go back to the UK for treatment, and was vacating the IWGP World Heavyweight Title. With that, a new champion needed to be crowned and that would be either former World Champion Kazuchika Okada or Shingo Takagi.
In the match that took place overnight that took place at the NJPW Dominion event, we saw Shingo Takagi defeated Kazuchika Okada to become the new and technically third IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. After the match took place former champion Kota Ibushi who earlier defeated Jeff Cobb came out to seemingly challenge Shingo to a match for the belt.
