New Details On Smackdown Going Back To 2 Hours

May 2, 2025 Off By Tim Jarrell

We may not have many three-hour Smackdowns left.

Since the start of 2025, WWE and the USA Network have moved Smackdown to a three-hour program. The word when the move took place was that it was not going to be permanent, and that it would eventually shift back to two hours. Now we may know when that will take place.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he notes that Smackdown moving back to two hours could be taking place at the start of next month. The word is that it could happen on the June 6th episode.

“There has been talk that SmackDown goes back to two hours on (June 6), but that is not a hard date. It was expected at the end of May would be the move back. Company sources say the date isn’t etched in stone but they expected it will be finalized this week.”

Fans have long hated the three-hour Smackdowns since they started on January 3rd, and it seems like the six-month experiment could be over in just a few short weeks. If we do hear anything further on Smackdown moving back to two hours, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
