More Wrestling Shows Canceled

A handful of more shows are not taking place.

Next weekend was supposed to be one of the biggest wrestling shows of the year in Mexico. AAA was set to run their Rey de Reyes show and that has been postponed for now.

The show was set to feature Kenny Omega defending the AAA Mega Heavyweight Championship against Lerado Kid. Plus Psyco Circus vs La Faccion Ingobernables among others. AAA released the following on the status of the show

Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide would like to inform that, after global concessions related to COVID-19 (coronavirus), a decision has been made to postpone the “Rey De Reyes” event that was set to take place in the city of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico on Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Safeguarding our fans, wrestlers and staff is of the utmost importance, which is why this decision was made, following very closely the official information that is available and abiding with local and federal government.

Tickets that have been previously acquired will be valid for the new date that will be announced at a later date. For more information, contact your ticket seller.

With this news, CMLL had also canceled the show they were set to run this weekend as well. CMLL was set to run on March 14, 15, and 17 but all three were canceled.

The Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre y Promociones Mexico, Coliseo and Revolucion S.C. informs that the March 14, March 15 and March 17 shows at Arenas Coliseo and Mexico, respectively, have been canceled.

For what is referred to as “Homenaje a Dos Leyendas,” that has been suspended until further notice. As such, the public who has bought a ticket can keep the ticket and it will be honored for the new date. Otherwise, those with tickets can ask for refunds.

The above is in accordance with preventative measures that are being carried out in Mexico City and in different states around the country.
