Man Arrested For Attempted Armed Kidnapping At The Home Of Sonya Deville

A scary incident took place at the home of WWE Superstar Sonya Deville.

According to a report from the Tampa Bay Times, a South Carolina man, Philip A Thomas II, was arrested early Sunday on attempted charges of a Lutz homeowner they say he never met but had been stalking online for years. The report goes on to state that the home the man was arrested at was that of Daria Barenato, also known as WWE Superstar Sonya Deville.

They state that Thomas started planning the abduction eight months ago. Thomas reportedly parked his car at a nearby church and walked to the home around midnight. He then cut a hole in the patio screen and remained in the patio for hours before Deville went to bed around 2:45 am. Thomas then attempted to enter the home through a sliding glass door and the alarm was activated.

Deville then looked out her window to see the man on her property as he fled with a guest in a car. She then called 911.

When deputies arrived Thomas was still in the home. He was carrying a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, and mace among other items to take the homeowner hostage.

Sheriff Chad Chronister stated the following in a press release,

“Our deputies are unveiling the suspect’s disturbing obsession with this homeowner who he had never met, but stalked on social media for years. It’s frightening to think of all the ways this incident could have played out had the home alarm not gone off and alerted the homeowner of an intruder.”

Also, fellow WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil who lives near Deville told the following to News Channel 8,

“I have spoken to her and I’m glad she’s safe and I’m thankful and grateful that the sheriff’s office took care of the situation immediately. Celebrity status aside this is sickening. I am a product of a sexual assault and have zero-tolerance or respect for any human being that would violate a person’s privacy and or personal space.”
