Major Update To Steve Austin Status For WrestleMania Match

It looks like Austin wrestling Owens is now up in the air.

Over the last month or so we have heard all of the rumors that WWE wanted Stave Austin to work an actual match at WrestleMania. They had it set for him to work the match against Kevin Owens. Yet they were going on the assumption that match would happen even though Austin himself had not confirmed to the company he would do it. Now we have an update on the match as of this past week.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Observer Radio, Meltzer stated that coming out of Friday Austin had yet to agree to do an actual match. Meltzer would also state that at the time he will be on the show but has only agreed to do some sort of a confrontation.

“Steve Austin and Kevin Owens, they will have a confrontation but it is not clear if that will be a match or not anymore because it’s essentially up to Austin at this point. They want the match. They thought they had the match and Steve – you know there’s a reason he hasn’t wrestled for 19 years and I just know that as of Friday he had not agreed to do the match even though it was on the books. Now it’s on the books as a confrontation.”

Honestly, this is not the outcome anyone would have wanted to see. WWE has been going hard on Kevin Owens taking shots at the state of Texas now leading to possibly only a confrontation could be a disappointment of sorts. Not just for the fans and people that would have wanted to see Austin in a match, but for the people who want to see Owens now in a match, Now there is the possibility that Owens could not have a match at Mania and just some sort of a confrontation or segment.
