Major Name Being Discussed For The Royal Rumble

Coming up this Saturday night is the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble event. The show is coming to us from St. Louis and six things have been announced including the two rumble matches themselves. The men’s rumble has 15 names announced whereas the women’s rumble has 21 names announced. Regarding that women’s rumble, one major name has been talked about as possible for the match.
According to a new report from Fightful, they do report that WWE has internally discussed Ronda Rousey possibly returning soon with her name being tossed around for the Royal Rumble. It was said that this is considered a “poorly kept secret” and has even been mentioned to talent outside of the company. The report also states that Rousey has been training as of late with some feeling it’s a matter of “when and not if” she returns.
Rousey has not worked a match since WrestleMania 35 back in 2019 when she was pinned by Becky Lynch in the WrestleMania main event. If Rousey does return this weekend and wrestles in the Royal Rumble, this would mark the first Royal Rumble match she competes in.
Rousey made her WWE debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble event coming out after the Women’s Royal Rumble match concluded in the main event. The following year she was the RAW Women’s Champion and defended the title against Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble event.
