Major Changes Made To Universal Title Match, Stipulation Added & More
January 15, 2021Reigns got swerved by Adam Pearce.
Tonight on Friday Night Smackdown we got a contract signing between the Universal Champion Roman Reigns and his challenger at the Royal Rumble Adam Pearce. Yet things did not get the way of The Tribal Cheif.
The show opened up with Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman in their locker room. Heyman was trying to get Reigns to sign the contract when Reigns said he wanted more and hey suggested a stipulation be added to the match. Heyman then went to adam Pearce and said that match is going to be a No Disqualification match and Pearce signed it.
Heyman would go back to reigns and when he told him the match will be No Disqualification reigns got mad. he stated he never said No DQ and actually wanted it to be a Last Man Standing match. He told Heyman to relay the message to Pearce and Reigns wants him to sign it in the ring later in the night.
As the night came to a close the night ended with the contract signing segment. Reigns would sign the contract and so would Pearce. Pearce would then state, “I have been waiting all day for you to sign this” before he left the ring. As Pearce was walking up the ramp he started playing up that his knee was bothering him and he may not be able to compete in the match. He would then state that in all WWE match contracts if one competitor is not cleared to compete and a suitable replacement will be found and Pearce had a replacement waiting and ready to go.
Out would come Kevin Owens who would sign the contract replacing Pearce in the match at the Royal Rumble. Now at the Royal Rumble the Universal Champion Roman Reigns must defend his title against Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match.
