Latest Update On Kota Ibushi’s Current Injury
April 19, 2022Kota Ibushi is still not ready to return.
Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kota Ibushi has not worked a match since last October. Ibushi was in the finals of the G1 against Kazuchika Okada and the match ended early after Ibushi suffered a shoulder injury. It was later learned that Ibushi suffered a dislocated shoulder. Ibushi was then announced for the New Japan Cup this year and had to be pulled from the tournament right before it took place. Now we have some more info on how he is doing with the injury.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Meltzer stated that Ibushi is not ready to return to the ring right now. He said as far as the shoulder it is between 70%-80%. It was noted that his body still tired quickly and hurt. Ibushi also does not have his full strength back as well.
New Japan would like to have Ibushi back in time for this year’s G1 climax that starts in mid-July. It is unknown if Ibushi will be ready by then but that is for sure the hope.
