Things may be changing for Shelley & Sabin.

Since leaving TNA earlier this year there has been a lot of talk about where the Motor City Machines Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) will end up. Early reports were that both AEW and WWE were interested in them and people expected them to sign with AEW. Yet, it seems as if the narrative has changed.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he reports that the belief within wrestling is that Shelley and Sabin are headed to WWE. Meltzer wrote the following.

“Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley are expected to be coming here [WWE], or at least that’s the talk within wrestling. Nobody has officially said anything. They worked a 7/12 independent show in a singles match against each other that Sabin won for Prestige Wrestling in Portland, OR, and then did their in-ring goodbyes to indie wrestling. However, they’ve been announced for an 8/18 show in London, ONT for Smash Wrestling against Evil Uno & Stu Grayson at the Music Hall,” Meltzer wrote. “It’s been known for months that they had been talking with AEW and WWE ever since their TNA contracts expired. Of late, the indications were WWE made the better offer but they were expected to be with whichever side made the best offer. Within wrestling the belief is that they are WWE-bound and Tommaso Ciampa made a reference to them in social media. They’ve also been completely silent about it and clearly have made their decision one way or the other.”

The Motor City Machine Guns are one of the more decorated tag teams of the last 20 years. They are former three-time TNA/IMPACT Tag Team Champions, former Ring of Honor tag Team Champions, and former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, among other accolades since their debut as a team in 2006.

If they are to sign with WWE this will be the first time the duo works for WWE together. Chris Sabin has never worked a match for WWE, but Alex Shelley did team with KUSHIDA in the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in NXT.

If we do hear anything further on the Motor City Machine Guns now being expected to go to WWE, we will have it here and on the PWUnlimited YouTube Channel.
