Buddy is locked in with AEW.

Earlier this week word came out that Buddy Matthews signed a new deal with AEW back in February. No other details were given about the deal as far as money or the length. Some had said that they could have seen Matthews leave AEW to go back to WWE and now it looks like that may be what he wanted but AEW made an offer that kept him.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer reports that Matthews signed a “very lucrative deal” months ago. Meltzer would go on to state that he was told that at one point Matthew tried to give notice to AEW but AEW was not going to let him leave for WWE. Tony Khan then offered him the lucrative deal and he agreed to it.

Matthews has been with AEW since 2022 after being released by WWE back in 2021. Since his debut, he has been part of the House of Black group and is a former AEW Trios Champion.Β Matthews last worked on the June 15th edition of AEW Collision and since has been gone as he got married to WWE star Rhea Ripley.
